ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIANS IN INTERNATIONAL ORGANISATION (ANION) WELCOMES NIGERIA’S AMBASSADOR TO THE NETHERLANDS
The Association of Nigerians in International Organisations in the Netherlands (ANION) formally welcomed the new Ambassador of Nigeria Dr Mrs. Nimota N. Akanbi to the Netherlands in an event held on Saturday 28th June 2008 at the Winston Leisure Centre in Rijswick .
Ambassador Akanbi was accompanied by two officials of the Embassy of Nigeria in the Netherlands; Mr. Oluseye Davies, Minister/Head of Chancery and Ms Aisha Dewa, Second Secretary (Multilateral and Legal)
During the event, the Ambassador formally launched the association and inaugurated its first Executive Committee comprising of the following; Mrs Sola Adeboyejo (Chairperson) Mr. Michael Adenuga (Secretary) Mr. Smart Olasehinde (Treasurer) Mr. Boye Adeniran (Social Secretary)
In a goodwill message Her Excellency noted that Nigerians in Diaspora are a pride to the Country. She pledged her support to the association in seeking to enhance the image of Nigeria in the International community and enjoined members of the association to think of positive ways to move Nigeria forward and to strengthened relations between the Netherlands and Nigeria.
The Chairperson of the Association presented the association’s three point agenda:
- Homeland development to contribute to Nigeria and sponsor projects like scholarship and orphanages
- Dutch outreach
- Acquisition and development
There were presentations by Mr Russel Hammond of Worldwide brokers, sponsors of the event titled ‘Global Financial Investment Opportunities’ and Mr. Bola Ogunsola (MD) Bank PHB in Nigeria on ‘Mortgage Opportunities for Nigerians in Diaspora’.
